The Venue - The Fort Garry Hotel, Spa, and Conference Center
The 51st North American Symposium for Bat Research will be held at the Fort Garry Hotel, Spa, and Conference Center. This beautiful, historic venue is located in the heart of eclectic Downtown Winnipeg, within easy walking distance of a wide variety of restaurants and attractions. In 2016, Winnipeg was named one of the best places on earth to visit according to National Geographic Travel. Within walking distance of the hotel, visitors have access to the Exchange District, which is a National Historic site, as well as beautiful trails along the Assiniboine and Red Rivers, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights (location for NASBR’s Welcome Reception), and the Forks Market.
The Fort Garry Hotel, Spa, and Conference Center is a stunning example of the chateau architecture found in the railway hotels built across Canada before 1930. Its rooms have regal high ceilings as well as top of the line mattresses, premium bed linens, down duvets, and feather pillows. L’Occitane bath amenities, plush towels, and robes accent the bathrooms. Free WiFi and Nespresso coffee are included with your stay, adding a layer of residential comfort to the guest experience. And for NASBR attendees looking for something a little special, the Fort Garry Hotel is also one of the most haunted hotels in North America!
Conference room rates:
Single: $169 CAD (~$130 USD)
Double: $189 CAD (~$142 USD)
King: $189 CAD (~$142 USD)
Room prices are also subject to provincial and federal sales tax (12%) plus local accommodation tax (5%).
Booking a room
The conference room rate is available from Oct. 10 to 15. Click here to book. To reserve over the phone call (888) 855-4599, mention the “North American Society For Bat Research”, and book within the conference dates (Oct. 10-15) to get the conference rate.
Room 202 is apparently the most haunted room in the hotel! It can only be booked over the phone by request, and our conference rate does not apply. Staying in room 202 could certainly make for an interesting story at the banquet!
Want to Share a room? Use the Roostmate Finder
The Roostmate Finder is a message board used to connect people looking to share a room. Navigate here, and then double-click anywhere to post either that you have a room to share, or that you are looking for a room. This tool is available to all attendees, not just students.
